WEEKEND IN FRANCE

April 8, 2016

A few weeks ago we drove over to France and spent a fab weekend exploring the beautiful area around Montreuil-sur-Mer. Only an hour’s drive south of Calais, Montreuil-sur-Mer is a gorgeous little medieval town steeped in history and with lots of interesting sights.

In the morning we strolled around the farmer’s market where the fresh produce was a visual feast, and in the afternoon we drove to the pretty seaside town of Saint Valery, where we climbed up into the old town, and got lost in its tiny characterful streets. It really felt like we’d gone back in time with all the stunning traditional architecture and cobbled roads, and at the top of the hill we were rewarded with a magnificent view over the estuary. We also met a fascinating 90 year old lady out on a bike ride. 90 years old and still going on bike rides – how amazing is that?!?

The food was delicious and of course we stocked up on a few cases of nice wine on the way back! Oh and I got a chance to play with my awesome new lens (thank you Richard for being my model!). Here’s a bit of what we saw…
